When we started our “Together We Can” campaign back on June 1st, we set what we thought would be a lofty goal of reaching 4,000 pounds of non-perishable food items in two months. By providing lowered rates on new Auto and Personal Loans for members who donated non-perishable food items, we created the perfect win/win scenario—Do something good. Get something good.
Thanks to very generous members and a lot of hard work, we far exceeded our goal. We actually ended the campaign with 4,693 pounds of food donated, and we saved our members a lot of money in the process.
Here’s what Bronco President and CEO, Brian Hedgepeth, has to say about the success of this campaign:
It is impossible to put into words how proud I am of our "Together We Can" campaign. To be able to deliver over two tons of food to an organization like Franklin Cooperative Ministries is extremely gratifying.
When Bronco introduced this initiative, we really had three goals. First, we wanted to offer our members a way to participate with us in supporting Franklin Cooperative Ministries. Our members were able to lower our already competitive interest rates on loans and make a contribution to the cause.
Next, we wanted to involve our staff who always "answer the call" when it comes to helping the community. They have always been so proactive in supporting Bronco’s many causes.
Finally, we had worked closely with Franklin Cooperative Ministries once before and were very pleased with their mission and the number of families they touch in our community. We wanted to make a difference for them during a time that is typically slow for a food bank.
It was quite a stretch to set the goal of 4,000 lbs. in two months. But as you can see, we made it happen.
Gretchen Hopkins, Board Chair of Franklin Cooperative Ministries, has this to say about the campaign:
BFCU and its Together We Can campaign is the true embodiment of "Love Thy Neighbor!" The Franklin Cooperative Ministry's shelves are groaning under the over 2 tons of food you have brought us this summer.
July and August are traditionally months when donations are practically nonexistent and demand is especially high as many families have to choose between paying large utility bills and buying groceries. I can't even guess how many families will benefit from this project. We are truly blessed to have a neighbor as caring as BFCU.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in this campaign.
Thank you to everyone for your generosity and support during this campaign. Together, we did fight hunger!
