Hometown Heroes – Bonnie Cantrell
Our teammates set us apart, bringing that warm, familiar feeling to life every time you walk through the doors at Bronco. To help you get to know them better, we spotlight a team member in each Hometown newsletter.
This issue’s Hometown Hero is someone who has been part of the Bronco family for nearly 25 years: Bonnie, our Member Service Center Coordinator.
This April marks an incredible milestone for Bonnie: 25 years with Bronco Federal Credit Union. What started as a search for a place that encouraged learning and growth turned into a career built on connection and service.
As a familiar voice behind the scenes, Bonnie helps make sure members get the support they need when they call, chat or log in. But ask her what she loves most about her job, and the answer is simple. The people.
Bonnie believes what truly sets Bronco apart is the way members are treated with a genuine Welcome Home feeling. Learn more about Bonnie, her journey at Bronco and what inspires her every day.
How long have you been with Bronco? What led you to join the team?
This April will mark 25 years that I’ve been with Bronco. Before, I worked at another financial institution for about three years, but I was ready for a change. I wanted to work for a company that truly encourages employees to learn, grow and build a career, and that’s what brought me to Bronco.
We understand you’re the Member Service Center Coordinator. Tell us more about your role and its impact on the member experience.
As the Member Service Center Coordinator, I wear a few different hats. I manage schedules, timekeeping, annual reviews, training and coaching for our team. The Member Service Center handles incoming phone calls and chats, bill pay, online banking support and general member requests, so it’s important that everyone is well prepared. I also support all aspects of our electronic services and make sure my team has the tools and training they need to deliver the best possible experience for our members.
What makes you good at what you do?
I’m organized and detail-oriented, and I truly enjoy helping people. It makes a big difference when you like where you work. I’m a good listener, and I rely on my years of experience to support both our members and my coworkers.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
My work family. I’ve never worked anywhere that cares about its people the way my Bronco family does. I’ve built friendships here that I know will last a lifetime.
What do you think draws people to Bronco?
I believe it’s our member service. Whether someone walks into a branch or calls the Member Service Center, there’s always someone ready to help with their financial needs.
What does Bronco’s “Welcome Home” tagline mean to you?
To me, “Welcome Home” means that personal touch that makes you feel comfortable and cared for, like family. We may be a small community, but our reach stretches from Southampton County to the oceanfront, and we’re always ready to help our members with whatever they need.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends and volunteering through my church. I also love to travel and explore new places, my dream trip is to visit Israel.
