Our teammates set us apart, bringing that warm, familiar feeling to life every time you walk through the doors at Bronco. To help you get to know them better, we spotlight a team member in each Hometown newsletter.
This issue’s Hometown Hero is someone who has been part of the Bronco family for 22 years: West Bryant, our Senior Mortgage Originator.
For more than two decades, West Bryant has helped Bronco members feel at home every step of the way. As Senior Mortgage Originator, he guides members through buying or building a home with personalized service, industry knowledge and careful attention to detail. A Southampton County native, West takes special pride in serving the community where he grew up, often helping the children of members he has known for years.

Can you tell us about your role and what you enjoy most about your job?
I am the Senior Mortgage Originator here at BFCU. What I enjoy most about my job is helping members find or build their homes and working with them throughout the process, from application to closing. I also enjoy and value the relationships I have built with the builders and realtors over the years, and I try to provide them with excellent service.
How long have you been with Bronco? What led you to join the team?
22 years. I started here as summer help after my sophomore year of college. I started full-time in the real estate department in March of 2007 after graduating from undergrad and have been in my current role since July 2009. I ventured towards the real estate side as I have always been interested in housing. While in high school, I worked for contractors and also a local plumber/electrician, which gave me a good base of knowledge in the construction industry.
What makes you good at what you do?
Paying attention to detail, staying up-to-date on loan products and how they apply to our members and having a good knowledge of the housing industry and construction process.
What do you think draws people to Bronco?
The small-town feel and personalization. I’m able to serve and help the members of the community where I grew up. I’m a native of Southampton County and enjoy helping people that I have known for years. I am now helping some of those members’ children, which is awesome to see!
What does Bronco’s “Welcome Home” tagline mean to you?
That you will receive a personalized experience when obtaining your mortgage. To me, home is where you should be most relaxed. This is the type of scenario I try to provide to our members. Buying or building a home can be stressful and overwhelming without considering the financing side. If I can make that process easy and worry-free, I feel like I have presented that “home-like” feel to our members.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
The main thing I enjoy most outside of work is spending time with my family. I have an awesome wife and I am lucky enough to be called Dad by two great kids. We enjoy doing most of our activities together as a family.
I also serve in the community through our church, local Ruritan club and coaching baseball.
I also enjoy spending time on our family farm with our cows, donkeys and chickens. If we do get any more free time, we enjoy spending it at the beach or the lake, hanging out with family and friends!
