We think it's important for students to fulfill their educational goals and ambitions. That's why Bronco offers Sallie Mae Smart Option Student Loans® and a number of scholarship opportunities to help keep continuing education dreams alive.
Bronco Federal Credit Union Scholarships are offered to college-bound seniors who are members in good standing of Bronco Federal Credit Union. Up to $4,000 in varying awards are made annually.
The CHARLES A. WRENN Scholarship is offered to college-bound seniors who are members in good standing of Bronco Federal Credit Union. It is offered in memory of Charles A. Wrenn, past Board Chairman, who served 30+ years on the BFCU Board. A $3,000 award will be made annually.
The JAMES C. COPELAND Scholarship is offered to college-bound seniors who are members in good standing of Bronco Federal Credit Union. It is offered in honor of James C. Copeland, past Board Chairman, who served 30+ years on the BFCU Board. A $3,000 award will be made annually.
The JOHN ALAN GLASGOW Scholarship is offered to college-bound seniors who are members in good standing of Bronco Federal Credit Union. It is offered in memory of John Alan Glasgow, Franklin High School Class of 1999, to recognize the scholastic and life achievements of a graduating student. Up to $10,000 in varying awards are made annually.
The ROBERT T. PETTY Scholarship is offered to seniors who are members in good standing of Bronco Federal Credit Union who wish to pursue a career or technical education program not necessarily affiliated with a traditional college curriculum. It is offered in memory of Robert T. Petty, past CEO of Bronco Federal Credit Union. Up to $2,000 in varying awards will be awarded annually.
Qualifications
Making Application
Applications are available from the website and offices of Bronco Federal Credit Union or the guidance offices of high schools in the cities of Franklin and Suffolk, and the counties of Southampton and Isle of Wight. Completed applications must be received by March 15, 2023.
Selection Criteria
The Bronco Federal Credit Union Scholarship Committee will make its selection based upon accomplishments in scholastics, school activities, community activities, and contributions to the betterment of our locale. Though it is not necessary to do so, applicants may choose to address financial need if appropriate. Copies of transcripts and any other information requested must accompany this application. If this application is incomplete or submitted on any other form, it will not be considered. The selection of a recipient will be made without regard for race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or handicapping condition.
Additional Information
Students who have applied for, or received, other scholarships are still eligible to apply. It is the applicant's responsibility to assure that the Scholarship Committee receives all forms and requested information no later than 5PM on March 15, 2023. The scholarship is a grant with no stipulation that it is to be repaid. Completed applications should be mailed to or dropped off at:
