Shannon is a Loan Officer in our main Franklin office and has been with Bronco since 2000.
How long have you been with Bronco?
I’ve been here since August of 2000. I’ve got a lot of history here. My kids were born and grew up in this area, so, it’s just been great to be here. It’s not like a job to be here. It’s like family. And I love that. I love coming to work, and everyone is just so happy to see you. It’s not like that dreaded, “Oh gosh, I have to go to work today.” Bronco is just such a great place. I’ve decided to stick around for 22 years, and I hope they want me to stick around for another 22. It’s been fun.
What qualities should an effective loan officer have?
Knowing what people need. And I’m one of them—I’m just like our members. I can look at a loan and see what they need because I’m on the same level with them. So, if they’re looking for a vehicle loan, a home loan, looking to consolidate debt, I can see the picture the way they’re requesting it.
What is your philosophy for serving members?
Just to be kind. Everybody needs a helping hand. That’s what they’re calling you for. They know what they want, but they may not know what they need. That’s what I like to do. Direct people the way that’s going to help them most, and help their dreams come true, too.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Helping people. That’s what I like to do. I like helping people every way that I can. So, if somebody comes in and I can make their financial dreams come true, they are leaving smiling and happy. I’m happy, too.
It sounds like personalized service is a big part of your job.
Exactly, yes. Members may have their car loan financed somewhere else and they don’t know they can actually refinance it with us at a better rate. They think they may be stuck at that 5.00% rate and not realize that they can refinance with us at our 3.00% rate. Or that they can use the equity in their home to pay off a high-interest credit card, or something else like that. So absolutely, educating people of what we have that they may not know about is a big part of the personalization I can provide.
What do you think makes Bronco so special to members?
We are the community. We are people that they know. If they call in or they come in, they’re going to talk to people or see people they may have gone to school with, or church with, that they’re going to see out in the community, people that they know, people they can put faces with names. They’re not going to get somebody they have never seen or never heard of before. They may even know our parents.
Outside of work, is there something fun you like to do?
Absolutely. My kids keep me busy. So, anything dealing with my kids. I do like to do things in the community. My family actually adopted our road to clean it up, and I try to spread that information around. I try to get my friends and my kids’ friends to also participate in that to help keep our roads clean, our community clean. We also participate in blood drives. We like to give back to the community. I just hope that me doing that will spread kindness and other people will do that as well.
